Our text message program
The Grand Terrace Lions Club is a chartered Lions club in Grand Terrace, California, part of Lions Clubs International. Our members run service projects for the local community — food distribution, highway cleanup, sight and hearing programs, and student scholarships — and meet twice a month. We text our members so that nobody misses a meeting or turns up to a project that moved.
Who sends these messages
Text messages described on this page are sent by Grand Terrace Lions Club Charities, a registered 501(c)(3) charitable organization in Grand Terrace, California, which operates the Grand Terrace Lions Club. Both names refer to the same organization; the charitable entity is the registered sender.
Who this is for
Members of the club. This page describes the texts the club sends its own members. If you are not a member but would like to hear what is happening in Grand Terrace, there is a separate programme — four texts a year about community events, open to anyone, with nothing to join.
Numbers for this programme come from the club’s own membership roster and nowhere else. If you are not a member and would like to be, come to a meeting or write to info@gtlions.org.
What we send
Club notifications only — never marketing, never advertising, and never on behalf of anyone else. Members may receive:
- Reminders on the day of the monthly membership meeting
- Reminders on the day of the monthly board meeting
- Service project details and changes — start times, locations, cancellations
- Requests to sign up for an event, and reminders if you have
- A one-time sign-in code when a member signs in to the member portal
Roughly 2 to 6 messages a month, depending on what the club has on. They come from +19514625121.
How members agree to receive them
A member turns club texts on for themselves in the member portal, at portal.gtlions.org/profile. The wording they agree to is this, and it is stored word for word against their own record with the date they agreed to it:
I agree to receive text messages from Grand Terrace Lions Club Charities about club meetings, service projects and events. Message frequency varies, roughly 2 to 6 a month. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to unsubscribe or HELP for help. Consent is not a condition of membership, and I can turn this off in the portal at any time.
Numbers come from the club’s own membership roster and nowhere else. Nobody is added by anyone but themselves, no number is bought, rented or imported, and a member who never turns it on is never texted.
The form is on the member’s own profile page, which needs a sign-in. It is reproduced exactly, without a sign-in, at portal.gtlions.org/text-consent.
How to stop them
Reply STOP to any message from the club. You will get one message confirming it, and then nothing further. You can also turn texts off in the portal, or ask any club officer to do it for you.
Opting out does not affect your membership, and the club will keep you informed by email and in person instead.
Help
Reply HELP to any message, or write to info@gtlions.org. Message and data rates may apply. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
