Ronald McDonald House Week
Wonderful week for the Grand Terrace Lions Club of service support and community.
This past week was a meaningful reminder of what service truly looks like for our club as we came together to support families staying at Ronald McDonald House through a week long pantry drive, a morning of cooking breakfast for the families and an appreciation luncheon celebrating community impact and meeting other fantastic volunteers and contributors.
The Ronald McDonald House is a place for families who are staying close to their children receiving medical care.
With the help from our local Stater Brothers and Grocery Outlet, we were able to collect pantry donations and stock shelves with everyday essentials for families who are staying at the Ronald McDonald House. Community members generously contributed snacks, meals, household necessities, and other supplies to aid in providing comfort and relief during what can be an incredibly difficult time for these families. We were able to get our local Scouts Troop 40 and Cub Scout Pack 242 to volunteer time at the Stater Brothers in town with Lions members, bridging, once again, the generations of hard work and sense of community in our great city.
During the week our Lions members had the opportunity to continue serving by participating in meals with love, where we prepared a hearty homemade breakfast with biscuit sandwiches, and biscuits and gravy. Sharing a warm meal gave us a chance to connect with families and support the welcoming environment that the House creates each day. It was a simple act that carried a meaningful message; our community cares, and no family should feel alone during challenging moments.
The Grand Terrace Lions club was also invited to a volunteer and donor appreciation luncheon, hosted at the beautiful Rockford Foundation Burrage Mansion, a place for children and nonprofits. It was an opportunity to unite the volunteers and donors and reflect on the collective efforts of so many organizations, reinforcing the importance of community, partnerships, and continued service.
